About the job
The M&E Assistant will assist in the effective implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) strategies and global standards. They will support the mainstreaming of MEAL throughout the Project Cycle Management (PCM) and reinforce quality program management in the area of responsibility.. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- MEAL Strategies, Capacities, and Institutional Commitments:
- Follow data protection protocols and steps.
- Support capacity building and training for program and sector staff to improve field monitoring or address other MEAL needs.
- Follow accountability and ethical standards in everyday work.
- Engage in collaborative relationships with internal and DRC partners to ensure engagement and support for MEAL in the area of responsibility.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Support the MEAL Coordinator in developing realistic and efficient MEAL work plans.
- Ensure that field-level data collection tools are regularly reviewed and updated by the technical leads, MEAL Coordinator, and the Information Management (IM) team.
- Coordinate with the MEAL Coordinator to create detailed work plans for every MEAL exercise, ensuring sufficient time and resources are allocated for effective execution.
- When relevant, hire, train, and supervise enumerators for data collection exercises.
- Conduct data collection in accordance with project/area M&E plans, including the use of various monitoring and assessment tools such as surveys, focus group discussions, interviews, and pre- and post-training questionnaires.
- Ensure data quality throughout the data collection process.
- Provide feedback to relevant DRC staff on tools and processes based on field experiences.
- Support data entry, translation, XLSForm coding, etc., as required by the MEAL Coordinator or Base Manager.
- Assist with data cleaning, initial analysis, and updating trackers and databases as required by the MEAL Coordinator/Base Manager.
- Conduct spot checks, field verifications, and data quality audits as tasked by the MEAL Coordinator or Base Manager.
- Support any evaluation, research, or other studies carried out by external consultants or entities, as tasked by the MEAL Coordinator or Base Manager.
- Accountability
- Ensure beneficiaries are treated with respect, confidentiality, and informed consent.
- Promote Complaintsand Feedback Mechanism (CFM). Contribute to resolving problems and conflicts during activities and respond to minor complaints from beneficiaries.
- Learning
- Contribute to organizational learning by supporting project learning events.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 2 years experience in a similar position. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
- I am an undergraduate degree in development studies, international relations, economics or other social sciences, or related field.
- Bachelor degree/ in social sciences, humanities, quantitative/qualitative research methods, public health, any other related field
- Ability to work with Excel, Information Management Systems, and data.
- Willingness to travel and visit the field for more than 50% of the time.
- Self-motivated and organized with a demonstrated capacity to manage time and personal work plans.
- Experience using survey and/or database software and tools.
- High level of computer literacy (knowledge of MS Excel and Word).
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
Desirable
- French a very strong asset
- Previous data collection experience (quantitative & qualitative).
- Previous experience in the humanitarian industry with a local or international organization.
- Experience with monitoring, reporting, data analysis, and donor reporting/grants management.
