Who are we?
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997. Using a protection of human rights framework, DRC has mainly focused on Somalis who are displaced by conflict. Programmers include protection, livelihood, food and NFI distribution, water and sanitation, and advocacy amongst others. DRC Yemen has been providing relief and development services in Yemen since 2008. DRC has mainly focused on refugees and migrants displaced by conflict and natural disasters.
DRC, through its specialized business unit, Danish Demining Group (DDG) aims to recreate a safe environment where people can live without the threat of landmines, unexploded ordinances and small arms and light weapons”. These goals can be effectively advanced through cooperation and joint action with other organization as well as with integration of operations and programs with its sister organization, DRC.
About the Job:
Overall
This non-managerial position is under the direct management/technical support of the MEAL Team Leader. While supporting other DRC MEAL activities, S/he will particularly focus on monitoring the anticipatory Humanitarian Action for Displacement (AHEAD) programme and anticipatory action programming progress, data collection, analysis, and reporting while cross-checking the project indicators. S/he will be supporting the designing and implementing the MEAL activities; assisting the project staff in preparing periodic reports on project progress; and conducting the routine output monitoring, and quantitative and qualitative data collection with target communities using the required information management skills and be responsible for the analysis of different data in relation to the project activities and report findings. This position will work in close collaboration with the field project team and key stakeholders and ensure the accountability system and adherence to GDPR are in place according to the DRC standards.
Responsibilities: (in bullet points)
- Conduct monitoring routine spot checks to oversee/review the overall progress of project activities and draft the reports.
- Carry out the requested assessments to assess progress against targets.
- Support in planning the MEAL activities (quantitative and qualitative data approaches).
- Taking the lead in data collection, reviewing, and translating the findings.
- Conduct cleaning and data analysis for the collected findings and prepare the requested reports.
- Support in designing, reviewing, and translating any related tools/reports as requested.
- Develop IM tools and improve information flows for DRC programmes in coordination with the IM Team Leader.
- Assist in design/development, test, maintenance, and improvements to the IM system that stores and organizes data on DRC activities/indicators and provides support in reporting, project tracking and data analysis.
- Conduct proper cleaning, organizing, and storing of the documents related to data registered in a designated database with taking into account the high-quality standards before reporting.
- Conduct data quality checks to the data/information, periodically, and produce IM reports to identify accurate data analysis and gaps.
- Work with DRC sector teams to develop tailored data collection surveys utilizing KOBO-based tools in accordance with program sector needs.
- Manage, analyze and visualize program databases (including data cleaning, verification, cross-checks) to support DRC program teams.
- Review, analyze and interpret data and information (including providing high-quality user-friendly data visualizations like Power Bi dashboards), identify problems/issues and prepare recommendations.
- When necessary, ensure timely, accurate and consistent data entry from field teams into the database, while checking the accuracy of source documents. Alternatively, support with the recruitment/oversight of casual laborers (for data entry).
- Ensuing the CFM system is in place providing the needed CFM channels with coordination with the accountability team
- Apply accountability and ethical frameworks and principles, including CHS, in line with DRC standards
- Adhere to DRC’s Code of Conduct and act in accordance with DRC’s protection referral protocols and SOPs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by MEAL Team Leader/Manager.

Experience and technical competencies:
Skills and Experiences:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the design and implementation of MEAL and humanitarian activities within the NNGS/INGO, or civil society.
- Experience in developing monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Experience in using information management systems.
- Experience in data analysis techniques in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection tools such as Survey, activity info, and Kobo toolbox.
- In-depth knowledge of MS utilities (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Able to design dashboards in Excel or Power BI applications.
- Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team player.
- Understanding of gender, protection, and human rights.
- Strong networking, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Bachelor’s degree in social science, IT, computer science, statistics, economics, M&E science or related field.

We offer
DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until December 2025, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work As soon as possible, and be willing and able to work in Aden/Al-Khawkha with frequent field travels/visits.
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment. This position will be placed at Band (H2 Non- Manager) and will be reporting to MEAL Team Leader.
